02 May Paul D. Ashby, Ph.D.
Paul D. Ashby is Staff Scientist in the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Treasurer of the C.S. Lewis Society of California. He received his B.S. in chemistry Magna Cum Laude from Westmont College and his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Harvard University.
Dr. Ashby was a National Science Foundation fellowship recipient, has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his articles have appeared in such scholarly journals as the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Nano Letters, and Applied Physics Letters. He is a contributor to the volume Handbook of Molecular Force Spectroscopy, and he is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Vacuum Society, American Physical Society, and Phi Kappa Phi honorary society. Dr. Ashby is the recipient of First Prize at the Harvard Business School Business Plan Competition, First Prize for Harvard Biotech Club Business Plan Competition, and Second Prize for MIT’s Business Plan Competition.
He and his wife Dr. Kengboon Lee-Ashby have two daughters, Stephanie and Abigail, and a son Timothy, and are members of First Covenant Church in Oakland, Calif.
